One of the more acclaimed records in pop and rock history. This record was recorded in 1967, primarily after The Beatles had recorded Sgt. Pepper and Pink Floyd had recorded "Piper At the Gates of Dawn" at Abbey Road studios in London. It was not released in the UK until 1968 and in the U.S. until 1969. By that time the band had essentially disintegrated and had a hit on their hands with "Time Of the Season". This is pop psychedelic music at its best. It includes one of the great songs about waiting for a lover to be released from prison in "Care of Cell 44". Wait, how many pop songs are about prison releases anyway? Find this record listed in the book we often cite, "1000 Recordings You Need to Hear Before You Die".
